CD Release: Tales Of Love

The album Tales Of Love is my first CD release in over 30 years. It is dedicated my girlfriend who passed away by taking her life end of May 2024 as a result of trauma.

While she was spending time in France in April amd May, I was thinking about what I could give her for her birthday in early June. Our shared passion for music was the spark that had led me back to the guitar in early 2024. So, I decided to write her a song – my first in decades: My Tangerine.
But soon after, a second song followed, then a third... the music just flowed through me, magically, and by the end of May, I had written and recorded eight songs. I was so looking forward to playing them for her. I didn’t realize that during this time, she was in the process of ending her life. It shattered my world. I didn’t know if I would ever pick up the guitar again.
But then there were these songs – I couldn’t just leave them behind. So, I wrote three more and decided to release the album...

Tales Of Love is no sterile high-gloss production but pure, raw, and authentic - it is an ode to love. At the same time, it also sheds light on the issue of trauma and the increasing abuse within our society – a topic that is often repressed. Every day in Germany, about 30 people take their own lives, amounting to 10,000 a year.

The album consists of 11 songs, presented in the order they were written, between April 19 and September 6, 2024. The CD includes a 16-page booklet with all the lyrics. Keyboards and mastering by music producer Paul Mex, London, UK.

Songs (all song lyrics: here):

  • Tales of Love
  • Ghost
  • Crazy and Beautiful

The Musician...

Boris spent over 20 years in the music business before his career as a coach – as a musician, sound engineer, and producer, primarily in England and France.

During this time, he crossed ways with numerous artists, including Jef Harvey (King Kurt), Billy Idol & Steve Stevens, Bill Carter (Screaming Blue Messiahs), Nina Hagen, Charlie Harper (UK Subs), Martin Degville (Sigue Sigue Sputnik), Daniel Ash (Bauhaus), Meat Loaf, and Bob Kulick.

Boris founded and played in various bands, such as the Gothic rock trio VEDA, Andi Sexgang, TyLor (Sonja Kristina Linwood’s backing band, Curved Air), Ugly As Sin, and Huckleberry Finn. He released numerous records, appeared on MTV and the French channel FR3, entered the UK Indie charts, and toured with Havanna 3am (ex-Clash), Underneath What, Jim Rose Circus, and The Stranglers.

As a sound engineer, producer, and studio manager, he worked in various recording studios, including the world-renowned Studio Miraval (Château Miraval, which later became the residence of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for several years, and was reopened as a recording studio by Brad Pitt in 2022).

Boris was involved in a wide range of productions and worked with Mick Ronson (David Bowie), Cheb Mami, Eric Fernandez (Gipsy Kings), the Kelly Family, Billy Cobham, Jimmy Barnes, Fonky Family, Kill The Thrill, Blankass, Joe Hardy (ZZ Top, Steve Earle), "Spike" Drake (Pet Shop Boys, The Cure, Babylon Zoo), Richard Rainey (U2), Graeme Stewart (Radiohead), Mario 'Not Rude' Rodriguez (LL Cool J, Public Enemy), Clive Martin (Sting, Queen), Paul Mex (Boris Pikula, George Michael, Toyah, The Troggs, Ugly As Sin, Huckleberry Finn), and many others.

In 1999, he left the music business... to return in 2024 - solo & acoustic!

In Boris' songs, various musical styles blend together, shaped by his classical training, 3-chord punk rock, as well as ballads and country. His musical influences include Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Nick Cave, Leonrad Cohen and Johnny Cash.

Boris' songs are about love, but also about letting go, about pain and joy, the transience of life, and infinity... beyond the veil...
